IFRS 18 becomes mandatory for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027. For companies with a December year-end, the first year of application is almost here.
How will it affect your operating profit and operating cash flow? Can you keep using your current EBITDA definition and management targets as they are? And are there effects you may be missing?
Bring insights from 26 early-adoption cases into your own AI to assess those effects and identify the decisions your team needs to make.
"IFRS 18 Impact Assessment" is an AI skill you can start with nothing more than a company name. It first estimates the impact of adoption from public information, then lists the issues to examine and the decisions to make. You can start without any internal data.
The skill comes in a Claude edition and a ChatGPT edition. Add it to your AI and start an assessment by entering a company name or attaching documents.

We limited it to these two because, at present, other AIs either cannot produce reports of the expected quality or are not yet widely used for business.
Add the skill to Claude or ChatGPT and enter the name of the company you want to assess. With that single step, the AI you already use reads the public documents it can access and compiles the expected impact and the points to confirm into a report.

The report covers:
Income statement: an illustrative remapping of income and expenses into the operating, investing and financing categories, with estimates of the required subtotals.
Cash flows: the effect of reclassifying interest and dividends.
Performance measures: whether measures such as EBITDA qualify as management-defined performance measures (MPMs).
Management: links to KPIs, medium-term targets, executive remuneration and financial covenants in loan agreements.
Adoption decisions: matters to confirm internally and issues to discuss with your auditor.
Where public information is not enough to reach a conclusion, the report marks the finding "Provisional" and states what information is needed to confirm it. Upload more documents and you can ask for the assessment to be updated with them.
Where file creation is available, the skill produces an HTML report with charts that reads well on both phone and PC.
Once IFRS 18 applies, figures you have been explaining for years may change in content even though their names stay the same. The report puts concrete numbers on that impact.

The report focuses on the KPIs most affected. Click through to see the detailed report.
The underlying business has not changed. Neither has profit for the year, nor total cash flow. Yet the measures used to explain and evaluate performance can move significantly.
The report spells out the calculations, assumptions and judgements behind each change. It also traces each judgement back to the disclosure it rests on, so you can check the work quickly.

The report carefully picks out the relevant parts of the annual report and similar filings. That lets it identify the knock-on effects that are likely to follow once the numbers change. Stock options and executive remuneration are easy blind spots, and the report checks those areas comprehensively too.

This skill draws on what IFRS-LABO learned while building its IFRS 18 Early Adoption Tracker. As of October 2026, the tracker covers 26 early-adoption and transition cases worldwide.

In building it, we read each company's disclosures, followed the arithmetic of their reconciliations, and investigated why measures with similar names ended up being treated differently.
Some examples:
Carlsberg moved certain foreign exchange gains and losses and bank fees into administrative expenses.
Air France-KLM classified FX on aircraft return obligations as operating and FX on lease liabilities as financing.
Noritsu Koki split its FX effects by source and disclosed them separately as operating, investing and financing.
EBITDA cannot be judged by its name alone either. Some companies identify it as an MPM; others treat it as a measure that corresponds to a subtotal specified in IFRS 18.
The assessment builds in what this research taught us: which documents to check, which calculations to verify, where judgement is needed and what must be disclosed. It combines these cases with the requirements of the standard to evaluate the target company's own transactions, business activities and performance measures.
In short, the skill turns that experience and early-adoption research into a repeatable assessment workflow.
The output is an estimate of the expected impact and an evaluation of implementation issues. It is not an accounting opinion. Final judgements on main business activities, FX classification, MPMs and similar matters rest with the company and its auditor.
The product is a skill file that you add to your own Claude or ChatGPT.
You do not need to send documents or internal information to IFRS-LABO, or upload anything to a dedicated external service. The skill has no function that sends attached documents to IFRS-LABO. It runs in your own environment, so you can use it securely.
Anything you enter is processed in the Claude or ChatGPT environment you use. Please follow your organization's information-management rules.
The skill is designed for companies reporting under IFRS. You can start with a company name if its IFRS financial statements are publicly accessible. Otherwise, attach the relevant financial statements and supporting materials.
You can ask questions and request the report in any language. Both the Claude and ChatGPT editions support multilingual use.

Assess the impact of IFRS 18 on [Company name].
That's it. The skill reads the company's public filings and builds the report, in whatever language you ask in.
Want firmer conclusions? Attach more documents and ask for an update, for example:
I've added the breakdown of FX gains and losses. Please recalculate the effect on operating profit.
